This is the first album from our boys in Smut, one of the most known bands in Skopje, Macedonia. Smut is a band consisted of kids with true love for the hardcore scene worldwide and especially for the local scene of Balkan and Eastern Europe in general. They played the first day of the Union Festival in Varna Bulgaria and got a good reaction, they travel on a individual non band basis to see shows in different countries and they bust their asses publishing The Spirit fanzine, the biggest and most well known fanzine distributed in Macedonia, Bulgaria and Serbia- hopefully soon in Greece. What more do we have to say?

Well this is their first album released sometime in 2002 I think. The music is fast paced, sincere, no bullshit hardcore in the vein of Terror, Madball and Burning Bridges played long before the “back in the day” feeling become the new hype. At first you think this is typical above average well performed heavy hardcore but after listening to this record a lot you realize that although the vocals are tough through the whole album, the band combines elements from three other types of hardcore: posi- core especially in the drum beats and some riffs, “One Voice” era sing alongs and breaks and some touch of metal melodies, which are the main thing in the band’s latest effort.

The production is really good and the same goes for the sick artwork. All in all is a really good record, a record that showed the abilities of the band that day by day goes better and reaches a wider audience. Be sure to check them out to have an idea of what is going on in scenes really close to us!
