Πραγματοποιήθηκε χθες βράδυ (19 Φεβρουαρίου) η απονομή των κινηματογραφικών βραβείων της Βρετανικής Ακαδημίας, των BAFTA. Στη φετινή τελετή, παραδοσιακά προοικονομία των επικείμενων Oscar, το Ουδέν νεότερο από το Δυτικό Μέτωπο κέρδισε το BAFTA καλύτερης ταινίας, ενώ ο Edward Berger κέρδισε το βραβείο καλύτερης σκηνοθεσίας.
H ταινία βραβεύτηκε ακόμη με BAFTA καλύτερου διασκευασμένου σεναρίου, ξενόγλωσσης (μη αγγλόφωνης) ταινίας, φωτογραφίας, ήχου και πρωτότυπης μουσικής επένδυσης.
«Σ’ ευχαριστώ που μου χάρισες την αυτοπεποίθηση να μετατρέψω τις αμφιβολίες σε πίστη για να κάνω αυτήν την ταινία. Είναι μια τεράστια, τεράστια τιμή», δήλωσε ο σκηνοθέτης της ταινίας κατά τη βράβευσή του, απευθυνόμενος στην κόρη του.
Η ταινία Τα πνεύματα του Ινισέριν ήταν η καλύτερη βρετανική ταινία, ενώ οι Kerry Kondon και Barry Keoghan κέρδισαν τα BAFTA Β’ γυναικείου και Β’ ανδρικού ρόλου.
Η Kate Blanchett κέρδισε το BAFTA Α’ γυναικείου ρόλου για την ερμηνεία της στην ταινία Tár, ενώ το αντίστοιχο βραβείο στους άνδρες κέρδισε ο Austin Butler για την ερμηνεία του ως Elvis.
Από τις σημαντικές στιγμές της βραδιάς ήταν η έναρξη της τελετής, όπου η Helen Mirren, που υποδύθηκε τη Βασίλισσα Ελισάβετ και κέρδισε BAFTA και Oscar για τον ρόλο της, απέτισε φόρο τιμής στην επί 70 χρόνια μονάρχη της Βρετανίας, η οποία έφυγε από τη ζωή στις 8 Σεπτεμβρίου του 2022.
Παρόντες στην εκδήλωση στο Royal Festival Hall του Λονδίνου ανάμεσα σε εκατοντάδες celebrities ήταν και ο πρίγκιπας της Ουαλίας, William, ο οποίος είναι και πρόεδρος της Ακαδημίας, μαζί με τη σύζυγό του Kate. Οι δυο τους έγιναν μάλιστα viral για μια ασυνήθιστη κίνηση οικειότητας της πριγκίπισσας της Ουαλίας.
